One Flower Wednesday ... on Wednesday

Here I am and it's only Wednesday afternoon. Just finished stitching this little blossom and it has now joined the rest of my floral delights.

Six hexie flowers for the month of July, resting on some mulch hay which is waiting to be spread out on the garden.

We've been enjoying some light drizzly rain all day with more predicted for tomorrow.

The Week That Was

Monday and Tuesday ~ work.

Wednesday ~ I managed to squeeze in two flowers this week deciding to try the greens for a change.

This blue flower blossomed last Wednesday.

Thursday ~ off to work again.

Friday ~ was Friday Night Sew-In for July so I kept plodding along with joining my log cabin blocks.

Saturday ~ general run of the mill stuff like housework, washing, tidying etc.

Sunday ~ thought I'd whip up a batch of biscuits ... 11 dozen in all.

The recipe is quite simple and you can make a variety of biscuits. We decided on coffee choc melts, jam drops and coconut cherry but just add whatever your favourite is. Sultanas or choc chips are another of our favourites.
500grams butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 can of condensed milk, 4 1/2 cups Self Raising flour. You may need to add a little more flour depending on your choice of biscuit. Bake till golden and enjoy!

Productive Weekend

I have been very lucky indeed ... a peaceful and productive weekend!

Yesterday while doing some serious blog catching up, I came across a 'Stay at Home Robin' on Kate's blog. Today I get to share my July block ... not just one but two of them. I decided to try and make two blocks each month so that I can have two finished wall hangings at the end of the journey.

Considering I've managed to piece the two blocks only the day after deciding to take part, I'm hoping that's a good sign that I can manage this twin project.

Remember this poor little log cabin block? Well actually there's 36 of them 14 1/2" x 14 1/2" and they recently came out of storage and are turning into .....

....... PAIRS! The front seems are machine sewn, the wadding whip stitched and the backing stitched by hand.

I have plenty of hand sewing to keep my hands busy at night.

A Wonky Finish

Only 10 days late for Myra's PhD Challenge but an early finish for July's OPAM. (Please click on their logos on my right sidebar to read more.)

My version of Wonky Houses is finished! Ta-da!

Way back in February 2009, Jenny of ELEFANTZ created this mini block of the month wall hanging as a gift to we crafters.

My stitcheries have been patiently waiting for the time to come when they could become one as a wall hanging to adorn my walls. That is if DD doesn't wisk them away as per her initial comment...she also suggested the vine machine quilting.

Now back to that log cabin quilt. All my projects seem to require patience as they wait for progress.

O.F.W. and How to Keep Warm

One Flower Wednesday once again and I'm still keeping up ... surprise!

I basted the petals Wednesday night while watching the TV from under a snuggly quilt.

Then stitched them together while again snuggling under a quilt in front of the TV today.

Here are a couple of tips on "how to keep warm" from my two beautiful girls.

Fleur follows the sun patches around in the sewing room ... that is when the sun is out which isn't often at the moment.

Jayne noticed that mum forgot to close the draw this morning while looking for a jumper ... so why not take the advantage.

'Me Time' is extremely hard to find at the moment so sewing is on hold. I have a project just waiting for the binding and a pattern I'm itching to make so maybe tomorrow?

Flying Visit

That is to say, here I am making a flying visit to blogland. Just enough time to give a quick report on June 30 which not only was the 5th Wednesday for June, but also the last day for obtaining my PhD.

Originally I listed 3 Projects Half Done or PhD's to be completed by June 30.

#1. Pond Play - Completed Top

#2. Wonky Houses - 1/3 quilted. With 5 days to go I thought I had plenty of time to sandwich, quilt and bind. But alas life stepped in once more and ... so near yet so far.

Notice the little houses on the border fabric? I'm quilting a vine all over.

#3. Log Cabin Quilt - I did get the 36 blocks all pieced and quilted-as-you-go but they're still waiting to be joined.
I'd like to thank Myra for introducing the concept because I'm pretty sure that without the challenge, #1 and #2 wouldn't have made it this far even.

Now onto One Flower Wednesday.
The Purple/Orange flower was for the 4th Wednesday of June.
As yesterday had to be a town day I took my hexie tin with me and managed to squeeze in 2 flowers inbetween all the shopping and travelling.

I may not have the time to go visiting just yet but I will eventually... Keep Gardening.
