Lost For Words

With the weather so mixed up ... rain, flood, snow and fires ... I'm lost for words.

Nature can be harsh but nature can also be beautiful. This little willy wagtail is just outside my dining room window on the awning bracket. I watched them (mum and dad) busyily building their home ... and then noticed much nesting ...

While they were out and quickly took this photo with the use of a mirror and what did I see?

I'm pleased to report that I have now seen mum or dad feeding tiny little beaks so I shall wait my chance for another photo.

Today while the rain stopped, we took a drive to check the creeks near home and spotted this fellow on the edge of the bush. Isn't his neck just the most beautiful blue.

Today was not only One Flower Wednesday ... but it's the last Wednesday for 2010. As I only managed to attach green hexies to 2 flowers, I'll wait till next week with a photo update.

Lucky Me and More of Nature

What a wonderful surprise email I received the other day from Willow Valley Store. I was one of the lucky winners of Catherine's new patterns and they arrived in the mail last Friday. They are just gorgeous and I don't know which one to do first.

Here are some more photos that I was unable to upload the other day.

I also noticed a lot of red happening in my garden.

If you haven't entered in my 100th post giveaway yet you still have till the 30th Nov my time. Please leave your entry comment on this post.

The Icing on the Cake

Or more likely it was the straw that broke the camel's back. Yesterday afternoon topped off one of those weeks. Hubby managed to bog the dozer in a soak hole hidden in the long grass. He, Lisa and I then spent the arvo till the sun went down, trying everything we could think of to get it out but it's still there. We've now called in bigger machinery to the rescue.

The week started well enough with my birthday. A nice new warm pair of slippers for winter, cute cat ornaments and a lovely meal cooked by Lisa. Plus a chocolate birthday cake which I didn't have room for after the beautiful dessert. Made up for it the next day. And we do have our telephone operational again after a five week ordeal. Then throw in a broken part on the chainsaw and a broken part on a tractor implement. When they were fixed and ready to work again, add a punctured tractor tyre. Now the dozer.

Of course after finishing the curtains, there has been no more sewing. I'm off to baste my Spring Swap Quilt and start quilting it today (fingers crossed). Then it's off to work for the rest of the week. I am so looking forward to school holidays next week.

While I was taking a photo of the "new" cats, Jayne just wanted to make sure she wasn't left out.

Fleur was blending in near by, keeping an eye on things.

Need Help Adding Images

HELP! I'm hoping there is someone who can help me out with a problem I'm having adding images to my blogs. When I click on the 'Add Image' icon, nothing is happening. I'm afraid I only know enough to get myself into trouble with these things. Obviously I've done something to disable this feature and now I can't find how to undo it. Of course there is always the excuse that my computer did it.

I'm tempted to just start a whole new blog and not mess about with the settings next time but if someone can give me a helping hand, I'd like to sort it out.

On the news front, patchwork has been almost non existant in this household. I did get the border on the 4 and 9 patch and purchased the wadding for it. Now to sandwich, baste and get quilting.

We've had quite an eventful weekend so far. Yesterday it was time to milk the new milking cow. Her calf is now old enough for us to share her with. Her name is Barbie and with a little persuasion, she finally stood in the bale and allowed hubby to milk her. Luckily she has a lovely quiet nature.

On a sad note, we had an accident with a couple of young dogs being out of the kennel at the same time as the chickens were out. Ella the brown silky hen wasn't so lucky so now we are one less hen in the henhouse.

On a happy note, this morning another of our dogs had started to whelp. We are at present on the count of three newborn pups. That's life on a farm.
